They called him a «doll»:
how Hemingway's childhood
The consequences of such an upbringing forced Hemingway to prove throughout his life that he was a real man: strong, brave, courageous, sometimes rude and daring. This was reflected in and in his attitude toward women.
His father, Clarence Edmund Hemingway, was a medical doctor and a successful one.
Her mother is Grace Ernestine Hall-Hemingway, a former opera singer.
She dressed Ernest in girlish flowered dresses and bonnets and called him "doll. It was only at age 6 that Hemingway got his first boyish haircut.
The father was withdrawn and had a strict discipline in the upbringing of the children, the mother, on the contrary, was peculiar and adhered to the Victorian tradition of dress.
Ernest Hemingway was born July 21, 1899, into an intelligent and very well-off family.

The work capacity and discipline of the writer was amazing: some of his stories were written in a day. He always took his work seriously and forbade his distractions from 5 in the morning till afternoon, at that time his diligence was off the charts.
Hemingway receives the Nobel Prize for Literature for his philosophical novel, The Old Man and the Sea, written in Cuba. It became one of his best works.

He won the argument by introducing a heartwarming line written on a napkin:
In this skill, to notice simple things that hide behind themselves a special depth of tragedy and  was the literary talent of the writer.

The Dangerous Love
of Ernest Hemingway
Ernest liked whiskey and wine, and his favorite cocktail was a Daiquiri with a double shot of rum. He even invented a cocktail himself, calling it "Death in the Afternoon": pour absinthe into a glass of champagne, add ice, and slowly drink up to five such glasses.
It is no secret that Ernest Hemingway suffered from alcohol addiction, but he never drank at work.
I've been drunk 1,547 times in my life, but never in the morning
An intelligent person sometimes gets drunk in order to spend time with his stupidity.

The secret of success is simple: never lose heart.
Never get discouraged.
Never get discouraged in public.
There were many curiosities in his life under the influence of alcohol.
So one day Hemingway stole a urinal from his favorite bar, Sloppy Joe's. The writer claimed that he had spent enough money in that bar that he had the right to take possession of it. He installed the urinal in his home.

women's, literature and booze,
But one day he had to shoot his beloved cat named Willie, who had been hit by a car. The animal was in agony, so the writer had no choice but to shoot it. He could not leave the killing of the cat to anyone else.
Hemingway admits that he had to shoot people, but never had to kill «someone he knew and loved for 11 years, and who and with two broken paws continued to purr».
He recalled this episode as one of the hardest of his life.
Hemingway loved cats. He had 57 cats in his entire life.
